The following are classes with full presentations, but we love to adapt classes to your taste and style. Start by reading through our suggestions, and contact us for a consultation and to find out how to customize your wine class!
Our most popular class! A class dedicated to the fundamentals. We explain fermentation, vinification, and the general characteristics of wine (acid, tannin, sweet vs dry, etc.). We explain how we perceive them and if they are desirable and why (or why not). We will also talk briefly about food and wine pairing.
Wines of the PNW
A class dedicated to learning about and tasting world-class wines from the Pacific Northwest. We discuss why the geography, weather, and soils result in such great wines. We will explore delicious wines from Oregon, as well as learn about the varietals that thrive in Washington State, both red and white.
Wines of France
France produces more fine wines than any other country in the world. That alone has lead to French wines being elevated to almost mythical status. Though fully understanding all the wines of France is a lifelong pursuit, we will attempt to explain the concept of terroir and tour the wine regions of France. From Bordeaux to Burgundy, Champagne to Alsace, The Loire valley to the Rhone valley, and not to forget Languedoc-Roussillon and Provence.
Wines of Italy
In Italy, making wine is like breathing – it almost seems instinctive. There simply isn’t a region or district that does not produce wine. The numbers are daunting with over 900,000 registered vineyards scattered throughout the country. We will discuss a few major areas that savvy wine drinkers get excited about. These are Piedmont, Tuscany, and three North Eastern regions known collectively as the Tre Venezie which are Friuli-Venezeia Giulia, Trentino-Alto Adige, and the Veneto.
